Attorney Carol. J. Hatch has been named chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of the State Bar of Wisconsin.
The State Bar is composed of persons licensed to practice law in this state, and membership is a condition precedent to the right to practice law in Wisconsin. The State Bar promotes the public interest by maintaining high standards of conduct in the legal profession and by aiding in the efficient administration of justice.
The State Bar offers its members the opportunity to network with other lawyers who share common interest through its 26 sections. Section membership includes access to newsletters, email lists to facilitate information sharing, and other resources. Each section consists of members who voluntarily enroll in the section because of a special interest in the particular field of law to which the section is dedicated.
Hatch has been an attorney with Nowlan & Mouat since 1989 and has served on the Board of Directors of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law section of the e State Bar since 2002. She concentrates primarily in the areas of estate planning, real estate, business, probate and elder law. She lectures extensively on estate planning and elder law for area businesses and organizations, and has instructed classes at Blackhawk Technical College on probate law.
As RPPT chairperson, Hatch oversees section meetings and the activities of the Section, including committees which review legislation and arrange and sponsor presentations for the State Bar Annual Convention. She holds the elected position for one year.
Hatch has also served on the Board of Directors of Healthnet, the Sought Central Chapter of the American Red Cross, and the Salvation ARmy. A graduate of Cornell College and the University of Wisconsin Law School, she is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Inc. and other State Bar of Wisconsin sections.
